A Brief History of CPUs: 31 Awesome Years of x86

I remember the time i was introduced to the world of computers. It was about 18 years ago. My cousin had gotten his first computer. It had a hard drive of less than 5 MB and ran the primitive Windows 3.1 OS. Playing a game of Dave was all that was on my mind that summer.
Although sometimes, i wonder if id have been a healthier person if i went out and played some real sports that summer (and the ones that followed)....But I guess its too late now....
Anyways....Thank God for computers!

Ladies and Gentlemen.....The Future!

The manner in which we receive/send our information is increasingly achieving new levels of sophistication. Also, the manner in which we interact with the many devices around us is changing.
The age where information was available at the "Press of a button" or "click of a mouse" might soon be obsolete.
The past few years have transformed the way we use our devices. Touchscreens are quickly replacing the tactile buttons on our cellphones, computers, cars....etc.
The buzzword today is "Gestures".
It is a technology based on the movements made by the human body, thus building a bridge between machines and humans making primitive text user interfaces or even GUI's (Graphical User Interfaces) seem primitive.
The MIT Media Lab's new Fluid Interfaces Group, spearheaded by Pranav Mistry have pieced together a concept that could very well be the next big thing....

Put yourself on the map with Google Latitude

Remember watching those CIA centric movies where they track the bad guys using fancy equipment which made you go, "can you really do that?! "
Google Latitude gives you a chance to laugh back into the faces of all those CIA operatives that made you feel technologically inferior. It lets you stalk your friends in the comfort of your home using nothing more than an internet enabled PC/Laptop.
If you wanna get stalked, direct your internet enabled phone to m.google.com/maps and install the google maps application with Latitude.
It is compatible with with most of the mobile phone platforms - list
PC users can visit http://m.google.com/latitude
I think it is quite a fun add-on for this age of social networking. Surely takes it to another level.
Happy Stalking!

The Bulb-Sound Speaker "sounds" like a "bright" idea.....

Castiglione Morelli has released a concept that involves a bulb with an in-built sound driver.

It uses Bluetooth to wirelessly stream music to the speakers and also features an attachment that goes in your iPod.

This should take care of all that clutter due to the endless wires connecting your surround system to your TV to your DVD player. Oh wait, you can already do that.

Its just a light with a wireless speaker then. Why din't I think of that?

Obama's Inauguration captured in 1,474 MegaPixels

Panaroma shots are my favourite. So a 2 GB panorama, containing 1,474 Megapexels, composed after stitching together 220 shots, puts a big smile on my face.
David Bergman is the man responsible for this incredibly detailed picture of Obama's inaugural speech.
This shot was taken using a Canon G10 Bridge camera on a Gigapan robotic camera mount.
So if you were too distracted by the speech and din't get to take a good look around, here's your chance.
Another panoroma posted a few months ago,was of the Water Cube in Beijing, in Divers eye view.

Dance to save the World

The Club4Climate project is London’s first taste of eco-friendly clubbing, making clubbers happy in the knowledge that their organic beverage-induced booty shaking can generate 60% of the energy needed to run the club. The venue’s most exciting innovation is the piezoelectric dancefloor, which uses quartz crystals and ceramics to turn clubbers’ movement into electricity!
The Sustainable Dance Club in Rotterdam is Britain’s first exposure to such technology. The rest of the power needed will come from a wind turbine and solar energy system, with any surplus used to power private homes in the area. The club will also be installing the latest air flush, waterless urinals, low flush toilets and automatic taps to ensure maximum water saving plus less greedy air conditioning units.
So all you really have to do is dance to save the world !

Way to go, Moto...

Once upon a time, long before the iPhone, a company named Motorola ruled the world with a phone they called : Motorazr .
Motorola has clearly had its ups and downs in the cellphone market. It has managed to bring out some fantastic phones as well as some really fugly ones. It once ruled the market with the Motorazr and not too long ago there were rumours of the company being on the verge of bankruptcy.
But they are back on my favourite list with a phone whose ancestor was called the V70 nicknamed "RotoMoto". It was a phone with a circular screen and a revolving front panel revealing the keypad.
Motorola has managed to revamp that peice of coal and turn it into a diamond.
Ladies and Gentlemen......the Motorola Aura !
Oh BTW it costs $2000.
